Now I understand the no reshelving rule. I may just start pulling old out of print mysteries off the shelves and leave them on the tables just to show how popular they are and get them added to the usage statistics. I may end up saving them! And frankly I don't get it. It only leads to piles and piles of books on tables. It's no wonder people are always complaining they can rarely find something that according to the computer catalog is supposed to be on a shelf. Besides, in my local branch of the CPL the people whose job it is to shelve don't know how to do it. I consistently find books shelved by the title!
