Whenever we had dinner together, Joe regaled us with stories, and, of course, we read everything he wrote. One special memory was the time we went with them to Bouchercon in Monterey -- the lineup of fans to get his signature on their books seemed to extend for a mile. He was a writer's writer and a terrific person. HIs loss is a big loss to the writing world. We will miss him.

Leo Ruth and Deborah Dashow RuthDeborah Ruthnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1443515033089669860.post-64141717224019958692011-01-13T10:12:57.006-08:002011-01-13T10:12:57.006-08:00Oh no, not another one. They are wonderfully funny and show me a trade, repossession of cars, that I know nothing about. But he made the repo guys so endearing.vallerosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00823261062528849703noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1443515033089669860.post-68331713563773283352011-01-12T10:39:48.189-08:002011-01-12T10:39:48.189-08:00Gores was another of my favorites from a while ago...Gores was another of my favorites from a while ago. I didn't know he was in ill health, though the last time I saw him he did look less hale. The mystery writing and reading world has lost a great one.Richard R.http://brokenbullhorn.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1443515033089669860.post-53028946508933450112011-01-12T08:51:01.203-08:002011-01-12T08:51:01.203-08:00What sad, sad news. What sad, sad news.Naomi Johnsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08005429772070247806noreply@blogger.com
