ReplyDeletehuge congrats to my brother mike cooper - as well as all my friends on this list! :) looking forward to cheering all of you on this september...
ReplyDeleteJanet, I am flummoxed that THE DEVOTION OF SUSPECT X, Keigo Higashino (Minotaur)is considered a first novel. Naoko, published in English in the US in 2004 by Vertical Inc would surely rule that definition out?
ReplyDeleteHow do the Barry Awards define a debut, Janet? Do you know?
I'll check with George on this. The Barry Awards are nominated by readers of Deadly Pleasures.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Janet. I also sent him an email after I'd commented here.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all nominees. I just want to chime in that I think Turn of Mind by Alice LaPlante (nominated for best first) is an amazing book--beautifully written. I've been recommending it left and right.
