I love ordering books. And receiving them. And opening the parcel. And then reading them! And I love reading lots of book review sites, and Goodreads, to get even more out of the whole choosing, buying, reading experience.
I get the bulk of my books online - and that, despite the size of my waiting-to-be-read pile - is a couple of books a week, but my favorite way to buy books is in a bricks and mortar bookstore, where I can smell the books, touch them and stumble on surprise treasures. I also love browsing through used and antiquarian bookstores. Nothing beats finding a vintage treasure, or a book I once read and have been looking for ever since.
As a librarian, I used to order most of the books, etc. for my library. As a retired librarian, I now love ordering books for myself. LOVE to see those packages come in. A frequent trip to our local Barnes and Noble always makes my day, too. Pam
I love to sit and read through reviews, blogs, book lists and even the online catalog at my local library. And usually with a cup of good coffee at my elbow. After I complete a particularly onerous project (like an annual physical) I visit the library or a bookstore, where I allow myself as much time as I want to browse the shelves. Am I a book nerd? Oh, yes indeed! (and proud of it too!)

Here's my idea of a perfect book nerd day - spending hours at a gigundo used book sale buying books (just had one of those in Princeton) then going home and spending the rest of the day reading.
I love ordering and receiving books, but I also love going to the library to browse and then leaving with a whole stack of books that previously weren't even on my radar!
I love books! I love ordering them online, and getting a package in the mail, it's Christmas!!!! I also love going to the bookstore and browsing, and coming out with a cart full of books. ooops.
Actually, although the online ordering is pretty great, the REAL kick comes when you see the package on the front porch. ;)

ReplyDeleteI agree. Having books arrive in print form is more important to me than the ordering process.

ReplyDeleteWhat is not to love about ordering, receiving, opening and the final thrill of reading.

ReplyDeleteI love books and I cannot lie. It always makes my day better to find that package in my mailbox.
