Happy Caturday! Authors and their Cats: H.P. Lovecraft
Cats played an important role in many of H.P. Lovecraft's science fiction short stories, including The Cats of Ulthar (1920), Rats in the Walls (1924) and The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath (1943). There's also his collection of short stories, Something About Cats.
Odd that those fantasy and horror stories are cited as sf, but there's also a moderately famous anecdote of him staying at a friend's house, and a kitten had fallen asleep during the evening's conversation in HPL's lap...his hosts found him sitting up in the morning, noting he didn't want to disturb the little one by going to bed.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice cat. I wonder what was his name...
