Author Ann Cleeves has been visiting the Shetland Islands since the
early 1970s. She has set five crime novels here, with a sixth on the
way. "I like the idea of long, low horizons, with secrets hidden
underneath," she says.
Ann Cleeves, who sets her mysteries in Shetland, once asked a
pathologist friend what the perfect murder would be. "He reckoned
pushing somebody over a cliff," she says. "Because how would you know
whether they'd fallen or just been pushed?"
