I knew Orania for many years. She contributed to the Mystery Readers Journal and kept all her fans delighted by her Gregor Demarkian and Patience McKenna series. Her mysteries were always included in my Holiday Lists. She was witty and sharp and opinionated. Good traits for a mystery writer.
She will be missed.

Orania Papazoglou,
better known as Jane Haddam, died last night. She is best known for her
series featuring Gregor Demarkian, former FBI expert who lives and
works in the Philadelphia area. Her first series, under her own name,
features Patience McKenna, a romance writer, whose life with her fellow
writers is a broad comedy about murder in the book world. She wrote two
stand-alone novels and numerous articles as a free-lance writer. She and
her late husband, the writer William DeAndrea, had two sons, Matt and
Greg. She was a smart, intelligent, no-nonsense observer of the world
who laced her mysteries with humor and insight. She will be greatly
missed.
