BEYOND PARADISE RELEASE DATE: February 24

BritBox & BBC One will debut Beyond Paradise simultaneously in the US (Britbox) and UK (BBC One)
Beyond Paradise, Death in Paradise's spin-off, has a release date of February 24, 2023.

The BBC's announcement of the show's forthcoming debut gave a full synopsis for the series and the confirmed cast.

A new adventure awaits DI Humphrey Goodman and his fiancĂ©e Martha Lloyd as we find them arriving in Shipton Abbott, Martha’s hometown near the beautiful Devonshire coast, having left London. As they embark on their new life whilst temporarily living with Martha’s mum Anne Lloyd, the couple is quickly thrown in at the deep end as Martha sets out to pursue her dream of running her own restaurant, and Humphrey joins the local police force. Each week the team will face a new crime with a unique puzzle at its heart. As Humphrey gets stuck into his new job, he and Martha must also navigate life’s ups and downs, as faces from the past, the decisions they make, and the challenges of setting up life in a new town put their relationship to the ultimate test.

Kris Marshall and Sally Bretton star as DI Humphrey Goodman and his now-fiancee, Martha Lloyd. It's been six years since they left at the end of Season 6, with Goodman following Lloyd to London to declare his feelings for her. The original series continued with his co-star at the time, Ardal O'Hanlon, as DS Jack Mooney, promoted into the DI role, and apparently, the two have been in London until now.

The new series introduces Dylan Llewellyn (Derry Girls) as PC Kelby Hartford, Zahra Ahmadi (Innocent) as DS Esther Williams, Felicity Montagu (Tom Jones) as office support Margo Martins, and Barbara Flynn (The Durrells in Corfu) as Martha's mother, Anne.

Beyond Paradise's first season will run six episodes. Beyond Paradise debuts on both BritBox and BBC One on Friday, February 24, 2023, and will air/stream on a weekly release schedule.

Death in Paradise
season 12 started Friday, January 6 on BBC One in the UK. No date given for the U.S, but we know it will be on BritBox.

Ralf Little is back as DI Neville Parker for Death in Paradise season 12, with a new love interest. Not a spoiler if you saw the Christmas episode.

Don Warrington is the only surviving cast member from the show’s first episode, and he is back as the Commissioner.

Elizabeth Bourgine, who’s been in the show since the second episode returns as Catherine Bordey. (I love her!) Tahj Miles (Officer Marlon Pryce), Shantol Jackson (Sergeant Naomi Thomas), and Ginny Holder (Darlene) are all confirmed for the new series.

And, there will be many guest stars..

More info to come..I can't wait for the U.S. season start date! I'll keep you posted.

And something else to look forward to: Later in the year, Kris Marshall will return to the Death in Paradise world in a spin-off, rather than the regular show. As I mentioned last July, Marshall will star as DI Humphrey Goodman in spin-off Beyond Paradise. Humphrey is now a cop in rural Britain and there are plenty of murders for him to solve! No set debut date, except 2023. It will be on Britbox.

DEATH IN PARADISE SPIN-OFF: Beyond Paradise

Beyond Paradise: Death in Paradise Spin-Off

From Deadline:

The BBC and BritBox have commissioned a spin-off of BBC drama favorite Death in Paradisewith Kris Marshall’s DI Humphrey Goodman character making a return in the UK.

Marshall played the lead role in the show’s third-to-sixth season before being replaced by Ardal O’Hanlon and Beyond Paradise will spotlight his return to being a DI in his home nation. Beyond Paradise will be distributed internationally by BBC Studios and be available in all Britbox international markets outside of Australia.

Beyond Paradise will be on BBC1 in the UK and BritBox in the US in 2023.

Humphrey was last seen finding love with Martha. Martha left Saint Marie, leaving Humphrey devastated. But Humphrey then returned to London and declared he'd move to be with her. And that appeared to be the end of the story. However, in Beyond Paradise we find the pair living together in rural Britain. Martha is now his fiancee and Humphrey is hoping for a quieter life. He has a new DI job, but surprise surprise his new hometown has a very high murder rate!

Speaking to Digital Spy, Kris said that the show will be exactly what the fans will be hoping for, but that it will have its own "unique" feel. He explained that the show will: "follow on [from] Humphrey and Martha's storyline, from when he left Death in Paradise and Saint-Marie, and their rural life back in rural England, adding "Of course, being Humphrey, he's brilliant but you know... he's a slightly odd gentleman."

He continued: "I can't really say much about what happens, but what it is about the scripts that I really love, Tony Jordan's done a beautiful job on the two or three scripts I've seen. It's exactly what you hope for in terms of if you're a fan of Death in Paradise. Obviously, it's not in the Caribbean, but it's in its own paradise. It's got its own new twist on it. "What's really lovely is everything about the new scripts are brand new, and yet they sort of remain... it's a juxtaposition really of having what you're used to and what we really love about Death in Paradise, but having a new spin on it.

I think it's really unique and like a comfy blanket as well. I think it's going to be, I hope Death in Paradise fans are going to take to it straight away", he said.

Various news sources report that many of the characters from Death in Paradise will make cameo appearances. I can't wait.
