What's New on AcornTV: February-April 2020

I find it difficult to keep track of what I'm watching and on what streaming service. I sometimes forget the name of the show and that makes it all that much more difficult. I'm thinking of using an App to keep track. Any suggestions?

In the meantime, here's what's coming up at AcornTV. I love British shows, and Acorn has lots..as well as full length movies and foreign language TV shows. Britain and Beyond. I especially love the news that AcornTV will stream Season 2 of Balthazar in April. Yay!!!

BLOOD, a gritty Irish psychological thriller returns with a second series and stars Adrian Dunbar, who plays Lt. Hastings in UK’s #1 2019 drama, Line of Duty.

MISS FISHER AND THE CRYPT OF TEARS, Acorn TV’s first feature film continues the intriguing story of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, one of the most popular Australian series worldwide starring Essie Davis. This is the series’ first installment since the third season wrapped in 2015

MURDOCH MYSTERIES unrolls new episodes on Mondays with more whodunnit intrigue and its trademark engaging stories (through April 13, 2020).

THE SCHOUWENDAM 12, the spellbinding sequel series to Acorn TV’s Dutch drama The Oldenheim 12, focuses on an investigation into mysterious disappearances of two teens in a village 25 years ago. (w/English subtitles) A

THE RETURN, a made-for-TV ITV film starring Julie Walters and Neil Dudgeon in a drama of murder and betrayal,

LOVEJOY, BBC’s hit series starring Ian McShane as the irresistible rogue with a keen eye for antiques. Co-starring Chris Jury, Dudley Sutton and Phyllis Logan. (Series 3 and 4 binge premieres)

LIVERPOOL 1, a gritty ensemble British police drama starring Samantha Womack, Mark Womack and Paul Usher (Series 1 and 2 binge premiere)

April 6: DEADWATER FELL, UK thriller starring David Tennant ( and Cush Jumbo (The Good about a Scottish village ruptured after the murder of a seemingly perfect and happy family

April 20: BALTHAZAR, Series 2 –the hit French crime drama starring Tomer Sisley as a brilliant forensic pathologist who can make the dead speak like no one else to help solve Paris’ most baffling crimes. With English subtitles.

Crownies, Code of a Killer, & More: Acorn TV in February

Following last night's premiere of the critically-acclaimedOriginal Movie Agatha Christie’s The Witness for the Prosecution, Acorn TV announces its exclusive U.S. Premieres in February.

On February 13th, Acorn TV premieres the legal drama Crownies, the prequel series to Acorn TV’s hit Janet King starring Marta Dusseldorp (A Place to Call Home). Additionally, Acorn TV adds new episodes of Murdoch Mysteries, Season 10 every Monday in February.

Crownies (aka Janet King: The Early Cases) (Exclusive U.S. Premiere)
Marta Dusseldorp (A Place to Call Home, Jack Irish) co-stars in this 2011 prequel series that first introduced the Janet King character. The young lawyers of the Office of Public Prosecutions find that their passion for justice collides with the realities of a system that struggles to protect the vulnerable. (22 episodes)

Monday, February 27
Code of a Killer (Exclusive U.S. Premiere)
This three-part British miniseries “combines gripping drama with the remarkable history of DNA fingerprinting” (Mirror). David Threlfall (Shameless, Midwinter of the Spirit) stars as DCS David Baker, who heads up the investigation into the brutal murders of two Leicestershire schoolgirls during the 1980s. Only a few miles away, Dr. Alec Jeffreys, (John Simm, Doctor Who, Life on Mars) a scientist at Leicester University, invents a remarkable technique to read each individual's unique DNA fingerprint.

There will also be more new episodes of Murdoch Mysteries, Season 10, as well as the feature-length movie Malice Aforethought co-starring Richard Armitage (Berlin Station, The Hobbit)

Mystery Bytes: Upcoming TV News

Just a few additions to TV Mystery News. 

I mentioned that Lucy Liu would be in the new Sherlock Holmes series set in NYC (!!), and it's official. The full series of seven shows has been greenlighted on CBS. Also stars Jonny Lee Miller.

Body of Proof with Dana Delany about a Philadelphia medical examiner has gotten the go ahead for another season on ABC.

FX has picked up TV rights to Chelsea Cain's thrillers featuring serial killer Gretchen Lowell.

ABC Family developing (doesn't mean it will air) to a teen mystery series called The Keys about a mysteriouos island resort.

The CBC announced its fall 2012 lineup, which includes Murdoch Mysteries, recently dropped by Citytv. Set in 19th-century Toronto and starred Yannick Bisson as detective William Murdoch and Hélène Joy as pathologist Julia Ogden. The new series will move into the 20th century.

The CBC is including its first original police procedural, Cracked, (from the writer of Flashpoint and The Bridge), starring David Sutcliffe as a Toronto police officer suffering from PTSD assigned to the psych unit.
