There are a couple of note from British spy writer Ted Allbeury.
"The 20th Day of January" where a Presidential candidate finds out his campaign is being backed by the KGB, and..
"The Man With The President's Mind" where the KGB, yes, them again, train a dupe to mirror the President's thoughts.
