Robert J. Randisi: R.I.P.

Boy, this is sad news. Robert J. Randisi (Bob) passed away. I don't have a lot of details yet, but I'll post when I have them. Right now, I'm reeling from the news. Bob could be tough and brash like his characters, but he was also positive and supportive of other writers and the mystery community.

Bob was born August 24, 1951. He wrote over 650 books in the Mystery, Western, Adventure, and Fantasy genres, as well as being an Editor and Screenwriter. Bob founded The Private Eye Writers of America in 1981, where he created the Shamus Award. He also co-founded The American Crime Writers League; co-founded Western Fictioneers, and co-created the Peacemaker Award.

Read this interview with Ali Karim in Shots Magazine.

Rest in Peace, Bob!

More information to come about Memorial.

Bob’s passing reminded me of his generosity decades ago when he included my story in a western straight-to-audio collection. I hadn’t thought about that story for ages. He was very generous and will be missed.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Bob was a great guy, wonderfully supportive of writers and this insane life. He'll be missed.

When Bob lived in Missouri and I owned a bookstore in St. Charles, MO, I looked forward to his visits. We both moved on and I’ve missed him and his stories. RIP Bob

I just learned of Bob's passing. Very sad to hear of this. We traded emails a few times, and he was always very gracious.

What a horrible gut punch.I found out about Mr Randisi's death while checking book sites for my favorite authors. I was excited because it was about time for a new Eddie G book to be released. Mr Randisi took his readers back to 1960s Las Vegas to relive actual history, while entwining the wonderful characters of his own into history. I was hooked. I loved his books, and as an avid reader, I can say we have lost a literary magician. Thank you Mr Randisi for the dozens of books and series I have enjoyed. You will be missed. BR Salt Lake City
