There will be several more films made based on the Jussi Adler-Olsen's Department Q series, Copenhagen's cold case police unit.
The first movie which appeared last year was based on The Keeper of Lost Causes in the U.S. (Mercy in the UK). Shot in Danish, a subtitled version, will be available in the U.K. and U.S. Mystery Fanfare reported this here.
The series will now be turned into more films. The second book, entitled Fasandræberne (The Pheasant Killers) in Danish was translated as The Absent One in the U.S. Mikkel Norgaard, director of the first Department Q film, The Keeper of Lost Causes, will also direct The Absent One based on a screenplay from Nikolaj Arcel and Rasmus Heisterberg, co-writers on the original The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2009).
Shooting for The Absent One began in January. Zentropa is producing the film.
Nikolaj Lie Kaas (Angels & Demons) and Fares Fares (Zero Dark Thirty; Safe House) will reprise their starring roles as criminal investigators Carl and Assad in the new film.
