Book Rug

O.K. once again this 'book' item is made of discarded books, but maybe the library was recycling them anyway. I'd like to think that... well, really, I'd like to think the library keeps all of its books, but I know that's not so. So here you have it... a rug made of books... well, a floorcovering made of books.

I could never walk on this. Even though the books have been "recycled", it seems almost disrespectful to the authors who labored for months or in many cases, years to create these works.

I hear you, Liz!

I have never seen anything like this before. Artistic, no doubt, and recycled, yes, but out of books. Oh my (sigh).

I think this book rug is FANTASTIC !! Haven't you ever heard "You can't KEEP everything?!?" Do you realize just HOW CROWDED libraries would be if they kept ALL the unread, OLD books?? Books HAVE to be weeded out OFTEN! If I authored one of these books and it became obsolete, I would be HONORED to have it included in someone's rug!!" (Beats the dumpster or incinerator!!!)

Amen, Barbara! As a librarian, people think books should never be thrown away, but some mold, smell and just get read and worn out beyond repair. Any chance to upcycle and repurpose something is a win in my book! (Pun intended!😊)
