Jar City on DVD

Thanks to Karen Meek of Euro Crime, I learned that Jar City, the film made from Arnaldur Indridason's fantastic crime novel, is now out on DVD. But can you find it? And will it play on your DVD player? Euro Crime mentions that it's out of stock at amazon.co.uk. I didn't find it in the U.S..

Interested in Scandinavian Crime Fiction? The Guardian had a great article last week. Scandinavian Crime is hot! Now that's an oxymoron at this time of the year. The article says that we should expect more authors to be translated in the near future. No big surprise to those of us who enjoy well written, well plotted crime novels.

For an excellent list of Scandinavian authors who have been translated into English, go here.

I did see it at Blockbuster here in Houston but I'm waiting to finish the book before I watch it. I'll report back when I do.

Thanks, Scott, and I just checked on-line. It was released on January 26, so it should be available several places. Missed the special viewing at Bouchercon, so I'm really looking forward to seeing it. Arnaldur was on my panel at B'con (he was terrific!), and I spoke with him several times during the course of the convention.

I borrowed Jar City from a friend who bought it from Blockbuster. I thought it was very well done and recommend it. The actor playing Erlandur is very well cast. He seems made for the role. The film follows the story line well and I hope that other films are made from the series. I liked the use of some Icelandic folk songs as part of the sound track.
