Sad news. Louise Penny's husband Michael Whitehead has passed away at the age of 82. He was such a lovely man--witty, kind, and so proud of Louise. I always enjoyed talking with him at conventions.
Dr. Michael Whitehead, former Director of Hematology at the Montreal
Children's Hospital and husband of bestselling author Louise Penny, died
at his home Sunday night at the age of 82.
Whitehead's health had been declining over the last few years, ever since he was diagnosed with dementia.
"Michael passed away last night, at home, at peace, with love," his
wife Louise Penny posted on her Facebook page on Monday afternoon.
"'It's not so much that his heart stopped, as that he'd finally given it
all away. Surprised by joy."

I'm very sorry to hear that. I really feel her pain.
Saddened by this news.
Oh my, my deepest sympathies go out to you at this time of loss. You gave us all access to Micheal's heart that will tarry long and deep in our experience of you.
Not unexpected, but very sad. Such a kind man, and a wonderful couple. Rest in peace, Michael.
Janet, thank you so much for posting the link to the Canadian paper and those articles. I loved seeing Michael's photo from their wedding in happier times. He was a sweet, sweet man and when we would meet he we would always talk about our dogs. Theirs was a real love story. She has shown such bravery in talking about this journey they've been on together. Rest in peace, Michael~
