It received nominations for the Mystery Readers International Macavity Award for Best Historical Mystery and the Private Eye Writers of America Shamus Award for Best First PI Novel. SERPENT IN THE THORNS, the second in the series, was just nominated for a Bruce Alexander Mystery Award.
