Paperback Scent
For the reader who loves the musty smell of a bookstore filled with used, rare and antiquated books: Demeter Fragrance Library bottled it: cologne spray in "paperback" scent. ($20 for 1-ounce bottle, demeterfragrance.com) Book Purse (I've featured these before)
E-reader cases: BookBook BookBook, a case designed to look like an antique book, is available to fit MacBook laptops as well as iPads. ($79.99 to $99.99, twelvesouth.com/products/bookbook) |
For Comfort: Thumb Thing
The Thumb Thing is a hard plastic ring with winglike shapes on each side that, when worn around the thumb while reading, makes holding a book more comfortable. The design of the ring allows readers to more comfortably hold an open book one-handed (making it possible to, say, hold an "L" train handle or prop your head with your other hand), and its design helps prevent readers from creasing the book spine. ($3, thumbthing.com) |
For Reading in the Cold: Echo Touch gloves
To keep hands and fingers warm and still have access to touch-screen e-reader devices and apps, we like Echo Touch gloves. Special "eLink fabric" is attached to the top of the index finger and thumb of each glove, allowing the wearer to use touch-screen devices as if not wearing gloves. ($30, echodesign.com) |
