THE LINCOLN LAWYER, SEASON 2, Part 2

The Lincoln Lawye
r, Season 2,  Part 2 with 5 more episodes dropped yesterday on Netflix. So glad, as I was waiting for the rest of the season. I'm a binger.
I really enjoy this series. I know there are flaws, but anything 'Michael Connelly' is good with me.

The Lincoln Lawyer is a legal mystery series, based on Michael Connelly's The Fifth Witness. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo stars in this series from Emmy winner David E. Kelley.

Storyline: Mickey Haller runs his law firm from the back seat of his Lincoln as he takes on LA’s biggest and smallest cases. In Season 1, Mickey was recovering from surgery and a subsequent pill addiction. When his colleague unexpectedly passed away, Mickey got back into the legal game, inheriting all of his cases. Working out of his car isn’t the only thing that sets him apart — Mickey takes family business to a whole new level as he works with his prosecutor ex-wife, Maggie (Neve Campbell), and his other ex-wife and assistant, Lorna (Becki Newton).

In Season 2, based on the novel The Fifth Witness, has Mickey Haller expanding his business into foreclosure defense where he represents Lisa Trammell, who is accused of murdering a wealthy man. Mickey, despite suspecting his client's guilt, works to exonerate her. As the case progresses, Mickey discovers the victim's own illegal activities, leading to personal danger.

Haven't seen Season 1 or the first 5 episodes of Season 2? All still available on Netflix.

And today Michael Connelly wrote on Twitter:

The second half of The Lincoln Lawyer season two comes out today. Ironically, I’ll be on a picket line with the writers and some of the actors from the show. Ironic, because you can’t make a show like this without a team of people working in concert.

So we don't know the fate of Season 3 at this time.

Penzler Publishers Announces “Crime Ink”: True Crime Imprint

Otto Penzler announced that he has formed Crime Ink, a new imprint at his publishing company, Penzler Publishers, which will focus on publishing literary true crime.

Tom Wickersham, formerly the manager of The Mysterious Bookshop, will head the imprint as its editor. Charles Perry will be the Publisher, a position he currently holds with The Mysterious Press, American Mystery Classics, Scarlet, and MysteriousPress.com, an electronic book publisher--the other imprints of Penzler Publishers. Luisa Smith will oversee as Editor-in-Chief of Penzler Publishers.

The Crime Ink imprint plans to publish four to six books in its first year, starting in the Winter of 2024.

“True crime is an important publishing category that has enjoyed a long history of success,” said Otto Penzler, CEO of Penzler Publishers. “When Tom Wickersham agreed to join us in this venture, his extraordinary knowledge in this field immediately convinced me that we had a great addition to our team that would prove to be innovative and successful.”

“I am excited to join Penzler Publishers and contribute to the rich genre of true crime with Crime Ink,” said Tom. “We are poised to launch in the spring of 2024 with The Serial Killer’s Apprentice, the first modern examination of 1970s serial killer Dean Corll. Also under contract are a biography of New York crime journalist Jimmy Breslin, a comprehensive account of the Son of Sam killings, and a series in translation from France. We will strive to publish revelatory works that shed new light on old cases, expose modern injustices, and expand the classification of true crime as we know it.”

Crime Ink will be distributed by W. W. Norton and Company, which also distributes The Mysterious Press, Scarlet, and American Mystery Classics.

CANDICE RENOIR: Season 7

UPDATE: At last an airdate: Monday, October 2, on AcornTV! Yay!!!

I'm so happy to share the news that Season 7 of Candice Renoir will be released on October 2, 2023 on Acorn.TV.

I love this series about French police detective Candice Renoir.  Cécile Bois stars as Candice Renoir, a mother of four who took a decade-long hiatus from her role as a Parisian police detective to accompany her husband on job assignments around the world. Newly divorced, she returns to the force while also learning to manage as a single mother. She’s out of practice and her new colleagues find her maternal ways and love of pink a bit annoying – but she’s a clever detective with a strong drive for justice, and she’ll eventually win them around. They often call her Barbie. Lots of relationships, crime, setting, and justice in this fast paced French series. In French with subtitles.

There are 10 seasons and a feature length special of Candice Renoir. I'm so glad that Season 7 will premiere on October 2. I hope we don't have to wait as long for the other seasons and the long feature.

And, an FYI, there are 10 episodes in Season 7.

Can't wait!!! In the meantime, if you haven't seen this series before, or if you just want to rewatch, AcornTV has the first 6 seasons here.
