CANDICE RENOIR, SEASON 7 will drop on October 2
It's been a long wait with no explanation about why the release date was postponed, but now we have a solid date! Season 7 will drop next week -- October 2!!! Yay!!!
I love this series about French police detective Candice Renoir. Cécile Bois stars as Candice Renoir, a mother of four who took a decade-long hiatus from her role as a Parisian police detective to accompany her husband on job assignments around the world. Newly divorced, she returns to the force while also learning to manage as a single mother. She’s out of practice and her new colleagues find her maternal ways and love of pink a bit annoying – but she’s a clever detective with a strong drive for justice, and she’ll eventually win them around. They often call her Barbie. Lots of relationships, crime, setting, and justice in this fast paced French series. In French with subtitles.
There are 10 seasons and a feature length special of Candice Renoir. I'm so glad that we will have Season 7, for now. I hope we don't have to wait as long for the other seasons and the long feature.
And, an FYI, there are 10 episodes in Season 7.
In the meantime, if you haven't seen this series before, or if you just want to rewatch, AcornTV has the first 6 seasons here.

DALGLIESH SEASON 2
Season 1 of Dalgliesh is still available on AcornTV, if you want to catch up.
P.D. James is one of my favorite writers, and I suggest you read the Dalgliesh series, starting with Cover Her Face. Each novel is fabulous. Great plots, strong characters, wonderful settings. P.D. James is a terrific writer and plotter.

Whitstable Pearl: Season 2
Whitstable Pearl will return for Season 2 on Monday, November 28 on AcornTV, with two episodes. Two episodes will debut weekly.
This series is based on The Whitstable Pearl Mysteries by Julie Wassmer. There are more Whitstable Pearl novels in the series, so hopefully there will be more seasons of Whitstable Pearl. I really enjoy the series. Pearl is a restauranteur and former police detective who because of her first case, becomes a P.I. All this in a charming British seaside town.
You can still watch Season 1 of Whitstable Pearl on Acorn TV in the UK and the US.
Whitstable Pearl Season 1 follows Pearl Nolan (Kerry Godliman), who runs a successful seafood restaurant in her hometown of Whitstable in Kent but really misses being a detective. When she comes across the dead body of her friend Vinnie, she sets herself up as a PI and teams up with out-of-town detective DCI Mike McGuire (Howard Charles) to solve Vinnie’s death and other murders in the picturesque seaside town.

MIDSOMER MURDERS: Series 22: Part 2
Series 22 Episode 3 premieres September 27. Homicide, blackmail, greed, and betrayal: just a taste of what goes on behind the well-trimmed hedges of Midsomer County in this deliciously sinister series. But the culprits are no match for DCI Tom Barnaby (John Nettles, Bergerac); his successor upon retirement, DCI John Barnaby (Neil Dudgeon, Life of Riley); and their assistants.

Queens of Mystery: Acorn Original Detective Series
Acorn TV is continuing its move into original drama with female detective series Queens of Mystery.
Acorn has ordered the six-part series from British production company Sly Fox Productions in association with Ferncroft Media and it comes hot on the heels of the order of Hugo Speer and Sharon Small-fronted London Kills and the second season of Ashley Jensen’s Agatha Raisin.
Queens of Mystery was created by New Tricks and Doc Martin writer Julian Unthank and will air in the U.S. and in English-speaking territories via Acorn TV as three feature-length episodes as well as six 45 minute episodes. It will launch in 2019 and will be distributed internationally by ZDF Enterprises.
Queens of Mystery follows a perennially single female detective and her three aunts, who are well-known crime writers that help her solve whodunit style murders as well as set her up on blind dates. The Amelie-esque style contemporary murder mystery series will feature quirky characters, fast-paced dialogue and darkly comic murders. The Rook writer Matthew Thomas will write along with Unthank and Ian Emes will direct the first two episodes.

George Gently Series Finale on AcornTV
Called “Great, bordering on brilliant” (Esquire) and an “excellent BBC detective series” (Los Angeles Times), the long-running hit British detective drama GEORGE GENTLY returns for its final two feature-length mysteries within two days of the finale’s BBC One debut.
Tony® nominee Martin Shaw returns for his final cases as North of England’s most upstanding detective, George Gently, again assisted by his trusted partner, Detective Inspector John Bacchus (Lee Ingleby), and Detective Sergeant Rachel Coles (Lisa McGrillis) with Richard Harrington (Poldark, Hinterland) co-starring in the series finale.
In Gently Liberated, set in 1970 with retirement imminent, Gently re-opens an investigation which risks exposing an appalling miscarriage of justice and potentially embarrassing the Force.
In the series finale, Gently and the New Age, Gently is retiring on a professional high when he is approached by a covert police unit with one last tantalizing offer.
