DI RAY: SEASON 2

I'm so glad that PBS will be airing DI Ray, Season 2 this June.

DI Ray is a British South Asian detective struggling to succeed in a world in which her sex and color put her in a minority on most teams. Parminder Nagar returns as DI Ray; Gemma Whelan s DCI Kerry Henderson, and more. In season 2, DI Rachita Ray is promoted to work on a homicide investigation. She suspects she's been chosen for her ethnicity rather than her ability.

Season 2 premieres Sunday, June 16th, on PBS and PBS Masterpiece. There will be 6 episodes.

REACHER NEWS: EARLIER PREMIERE DATE!

NEWS: REACHER, SEASON 2,  WILL PREMIERE ON DECEMBER 14, AT 7 P.M. E.S.T. with Three Episodes!!

Originally set to premiere on December 15 on Amazon Prime Video. This season is an adaptation of Lee Child's Bad Luck and Trouble (#11 in the series).

I love this show. Great casting, fabulous acting, terrific plot and action! If you haven't watched the show, start with Season 1. It's still available on Prime Video.

The first three episodes of Reacher, Season 2, will now premiere on Prime Video on December 14, 2023. The remaining five episodes will stream on Prime Video every Friday, with the finale streaming on January 19, 2024. I like to binge, so this will be difficult. I hate waiting.

The official description for Season 2:

“‘Reacher’ Season Two begins when veteran military police investigator Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) receives a coded message that the members of his former U.S. Army unit, the 110th MP Special Investigations, are being mysteriously and brutally murdered one by one.

Pulled from his drifter lifestyle, Reacher reunites with three of his former teammates turned chosen family to investigate, including Frances Neagley (Maria Sten); Karla Dixon (Serinda Swan), a forensic accountant for whom Reacher has long had a soft spot; and fast-talking, switchblade-wielding family man David O’Donnell (Shaun Sipos). Together, they begin to connect the dots in a mystery where the stakes get higher at every turn, and that brings about questions of who has betrayed them—and who will die next. Using his inimitable blend of smarts and size, Reacher will stop at nothing to uncover the truth and protect the members of his unit. If there’s one thing Reacher and his team know for certain, it’s that you do not mess with the Special Investigators. This season, get ready for Reacher and the 110th to hit back hard.”

THE LINCOLN LAWYER, SEASON 2, Part 2

The Lincoln Lawye
r, Season 2,  Part 2 with 5 more episodes dropped yesterday on Netflix. So glad, as I was waiting for the rest of the season. I'm a binger.
I really enjoy this series. I know there are flaws, but anything 'Michael Connelly' is good with me.

The Lincoln Lawyer is a legal mystery series, based on Michael Connelly's The Fifth WitnessManuel Garcia-Rulfo stars in this series from Emmy winner David E. Kelley.

Storyline: Mickey Haller runs his law firm from the back seat of his Lincoln as he takes on LA’s biggest and smallest cases. In Season 1, Mickey was recovering from surgery and a subsequent pill addiction. When his colleague unexpectedly passed away, Mickey got back into the legal game, inheriting all of his cases. Working out of his car isn’t the only thing that sets him apart — Mickey takes family business to a whole new level as he works with his prosecutor ex-wife, Maggie (Neve Campbell), and his other ex-wife and assistant, Lorna (Becki Newton).

In Season 2, based on the novel The Fifth Witness, has Mickey Haller expanding his business into foreclosure defense where he represents Lisa Trammell, who is accused of murdering a wealthy man. Mickey, despite suspecting his client's guilt, works to exonerate her. As the case progresses, Mickey discovers the victim's own illegal activities, leading to personal danger.

Haven't seen Season 1 or the first 5 episodes of Season 2? All still available on Netflix.

And today Michael Connelly wrote on Twitter:

The second half of The Lincoln Lawyer season two comes out today. Ironically, I’ll be on a picket line with the writers and some of the actors from the show. Ironic, because you can’t make a show like this without a team of people working in concert.

So we don't know the fate of Season 3 at this time.

The Chelsea Detective, Season 2

AcornTV has announced that Season 2 of the Chelsea Detective will premiere Monday, August 28th, with new episodes airing weekly. I really enjoyed Season 1 (still available on Acorn). Great setting, plot lines, and acting.

Adrian Scarborough stars as DI Max Arnold, a recently-separated police officer who lives on an old houseboat while holding out hope that he’ll get back together with his wife. He's clever, determined, and perhaps most importantly, he doesn't care about wealth or status when it comes to getting justice. Raised by a local bookshop owner, he's a life-long Chelsea resident – but not part of the elite class of people who make up most of the neighbourhood.

Whitstable Pearl: Season 2

Whitstable Pearl
will return for Season 2 on Monday, November 28 on AcornTV, with two episodes. Two episodes will debut weekly.

This series is based on The Whitstable Pearl Mysteries by Julie Wassmer. There are more Whitstable Pearl novels in the series, so hopefully there will be more seasons of Whitstable Pearl. I really enjoy the series. Pearl is a restauranteur and former police detective who because of her first case, becomes a P.I. All this in a charming British seaside town.

You can still watch Season 1 of Whitstable Pearl on Acorn TV in the UK and the US.

Whitstable Pearl Season 1 follows Pearl Nolan (Kerry Godliman), who runs a successful seafood restaurant in her hometown of Whitstable in Kent but really misses being a detective. When she comes across the dead body of her friend Vinnie, she sets herself up as a PI and teams up with out-of-town detective DCI Mike McGuire (Howard Charles) to solve Vinnie’s death and other murders in the picturesque seaside town.

PROFESSOR T: Season 2

Professor T, Season 2 is set to air in the UK on ITV September 16. No news yet about the U.S. release. Professor T, Season 1 aired on PBS and PBS Masterpiece, so it seems likely Season 2 will air there. This Professor T is the British version of the show and stars Ben Miller (Death in Paradise). It aired to mixed reviews, but I liked it. And, yes, I saw the other versions (Belgian and German). They were equally interesting, but this one had more humor, and I love comedy!

Professor T: Every aspect of Professor Jasper Tempest's life is precisely calibrated and rigidly structured. Impeccably dressed and meticulously punctual, he lectures daily at the Cambridge Institute of Criminology, teaching students imaginatively, if pedantically, about the science of crime. Each evening, he returns home to his apartment, which is as sterile and systematically ordered as a science lab.

You can watch Season 1 on PBS Passport and PBS Masterpiece.

More news to come!!

TRACES: Season 2 on BritBox

Traces Season 2 on Britbox

As Traces returns, we catch up with Emma Hedges four months after the events of series 1. Her mother’s murderer has been arrested and hopefully closure is just within reach, but you'll need to watch to find out.

She’s no longer a lab assistant, but training to be a forensic chemist at the Scottish Institute for Forensic Science and Anatomy (SIFA). The series gets off to an explosive start with not one, but two, bombings in the first episode alone. Emma is helping her colleagues investigate this string of bombings going off around Dundee, with the motive not immediately clear.

Traces is a suspense-filled crime thriller based on an original idea by best-selling crime writer Val McDermid (Wire In The Blood, A Place Of Execution), written by Amelia Bullmore  and Val McDermid and set in the world of forensic science in Dundee, Scotland.

If you decide to watch Traces, I recommend watching Season 1 first. It's important to know all the players and what has preceded in the storyline. I love the science is this excellent production.

Masterpiece: Downton Abbey, Season 2

So many wonderful PBS shows on Masterpiece for 2012, starting Sunday night with Downton Abbey, Season 2. I was lucky enough to screen episodes 1-6 this past weekend. What a great way to greet the New Year, don't you think? Downton Abbey will air on your local PBS station, Sundays, starting January 8 and go through February 19.

I enjoyed Downton Abbey's first season, but I found the second season even better, if that's possible. O.K., Downton Abbey revisits many themes we've watched before: the Great War, Upstairs/downstairs relationships, the Spanish Flu, change. It's a soap opera, but such a beautiful and well written soap opera with terrific actors and great cinematography that I only lamented the end to the season. As I said, the acting is superb, the costumes fabulous, the cinematography outstanding. This is classic MASTERPIECE as well as Masterpiece Classic!

The second season of Downton Abbey starts several years after Series One ended. It's about love, intrigue and the trauma of war both in the trenches and back at the estate. And, change is definitely afoot. Add to that a bit of mystery, intrigue and romance. Several new characters fill out the cast with a new beau for Lady Mary and a fiance for Matthew. Below stairs Mr Bates continues his relationship with Anna and tries to deal with Mrs Bates, his wife. Thomas is off to war and much more. The Dowager Countess played by Maggie Smith is one of the best character in my opinion. She has so much to say on so many matters. Above and below stairs there's lots of intrigue.

Returning cast includes Maggie Smith, Elizabeth McGovern, Hugh Bonneville, Dan Stevens, Michelle Dockery, Siobhan Finneran and many more. Downton Abbey, produced by Carnival Films and copproducted by MASTERPIECE, won 6 Emmys, including Outstanding Miniseries or Movies, plus awards for Supporting Actress Dame Maggie Smith, Writer Julian Fellowes and nominations for Direction, Cinematography, and Costumes.

If you weren't one of the thirteen million MASTERPIECE viewers who watched the first season, you can watch episodes online at PBS HERE. Be sure to tune in Sunday night for Downton Abbey or set your DVR or watch next week on PBS, streaming. Don't miss it!
