Janet, As always thanks for all the great suggestions. Do you have any ideas for mysteries that take place in New Orleans other than those by Julie Smith and James Lee Burke?

Dana, Mystery Readers Journal had a whole issue devoted to New Orleans mysteries. It's out of print, but send me an email, and I'll see what I can do..

As always, love the list because I often find authors I have yet to read. Glad to see James Melville. Loved his Japanese series and was sorry when he opted to stop (as opposed to losing his publisher!).

Yes, James Melville. Haven't seen him in several years. He was here for a literary salon, and one time when I was in England, he showed us around the countryside. Loved his books.

Fantastic list(s).
My lone addition would be Craig Rice's 'The Wrong Murder' (Christmas, 1940) and 'The Right Murder' (New Year's 1941).
