Just a heads-up that the Macavity Awards (Mystery Readers International) will be presented at Bouchercon, the World Mystery Convention, during Opening Ceremonies on Thursday, September 8. Sadly, I won't be there to present them, but George Easter of Deadly Pleasures Magazine has kindly agreed to do the honors. If you're nominated for a Macavity, please attend the Awards ceremony. And, even if you're not nominated, come to support your favorite writers and friends. Don't miss it!
So, this Bouchercon is the first in real time in 3 years. The last in-person Bouchercon was in Houston in 2019. I was there. I was Guest of Honor at the 2020 Bouchercon in Sacramento. That one was virtual. Then at the 2021 New Orleans Bouchercon, I was awarded the David Thompson Memorial Special Service Award, and that New Orleans Bouchercon went virtual, too.
I've actually attended all but 2 Bouchercons since the mid-1980s. Bouchercon is a great mystery convention of fans, writers, readers, editors, publishers, and others. This is the big party, the coming together of our mystery family, with panels, interviews, awards, and so much more! I'm so sad that I am unable to attend this year, but I wish everyone well . I look forward to seeing your photos on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Have fun!
See you next year in San Diego!

I'm not making it either this year, though Tara is. Looking forward to the announcement of this year's winners—always a highlight of Bouchercon!—and looking forward to seeing you another year ahead. :-)
