Unforgotten returns to PBS Masterpiece Mystery! on August 24, 10/9c. There will be 6 episodes. DCI Jess James, DI Sunny Khan, and their team examine the lives of a disparate group of people linked to a cold case.They uncover the truth behind a dismembered body found in Whitney Marsh.

UNFORGOTTEN, Season 5, Starts Sunday, September 3

Just a reminder, Unforgotten, Season 5, starts Sunday, September 3 at 9:00 p.m.  on MASTERPIECE  on PBS. Watch on air, online, and on the free PBS app.

This award-winning cold case crime drama follows veteran London detectives who uncover the truth behind tangled, complicated murders from the past. The new season sees DI Sunny Khan’s (Sanjeev Bhaskar) loyal and hard-working investigations team back to work and attempting to get along with a new and all too business-like DCI Jessica James (Sinéad Keenan). Jess’s first case is the discovery of human remains in a newly renovated period property in Hammersmith, London. But how long have they been there and is this a murder dating back to the 1930’s or has the body been disposed of in more recent times?

You can catch up with full episodes of Seasons 1 through 4 streaming now on PBS Passport.

Of course, I'll miss Nicola Walker, but I'm sure it will be a great season.

UNFORGOTTEN NEWS: Series 5 and 6

According to RadioTimes and ITV:

Unforgotten has been renewed for Season 6 with Sinéad Keenan and Sanjeev Bhaskar. All well and good, but we in the U.S. have still to watch Season 5. Season 5 has aired in the UK, but not yet here in the U.S. According to several sources, it will be available later in the year on PBS Passport, PBS Video, and PBS Masterpiece Prime Video channel. There are 6 episodes. 

The latest fifth season sees new lead Sinéad Keenan star as DCI Jessica James, stepping into the shoes left by Nicola Walker's DCI Cassie Stewart after four seasons leading the show.

UNFORGOTTEN: Series 3

I'm not sure I mentioned that Unforgotten Series 3 was on PBS. Hope you caught it when it was on in April. If not, you can watch the entire series on PBS Passport. Subscribe to your local station (at a certain dollar amount), and you will have extended access to over 1500 episodes of your favorite shows.

But back to Unforgotten Series 3. This has to be the best yet. Nicola Walker (Last Tango in Halifax) and Sanjeev Bhaskar (The Indian Doctor) star as police officers investigating cold case murders. In series 3 they investigate the murder of a young girl found buried near a busy highway. Unforgotten is unique in its detective and team interactions. With each series, the storyline unfolds over 6 episodes, each more impactful than the last, introducing new characters and situations, and finally wrapping it all up. I don't want to give away too much, but if this show has been off your radar, it's time to bring it forward. You can still watch the first two seasons on PBS Passport (and probably elsewhere). Unforgotten is brilliant! Great acting, terrific writing, and a very satisfying mystery!

And, in case you're wondering, there will be a Series 4.

 

Unforgotten: PBS Masterpiece Mystery!

PBS Masterpiece Mystery! has a new series coming up that starts Sundays April 8 and runs through May 13 (9 pm, but check local listings). Unforgotten is a really thoughtful, well acted, and plotted detective show and there are two seasons that will be aired. I binged the first season and found it mesmerizing. I highly recommend it.

Info: Two detectives confront a pair of baffling cold cases in back-to-back seasons of the British crime series Unforgotten. Nicola Walker (Last Tango in Halifax) and Sanjeev Bhaskar (Indian Summers) star as DCI Cassie Stuart and DS Sunny Khan, masters at solving long-past homicides—including a skeleton under a cellar and a corpse in a suitcase. Notable guest stars include Tom Courtenay, Gemma Jones, Trevor Eve, Bernard Hill, and others.
